Obituary

Laurie Kay Carpenter, 66, of Franklin, died on Monday, June 1, 2026, at her residence.

Born February 19, 1960, in Gainesville, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Carpenter and the late Emily Love Carpenter. Growing up in Alachua County, Laurie’s childhood was intimately connected to the waterways and springs of Florida, a love she carried into adulthood. She found solace and joy in swimming in these clear, tranquil waters. Laurie's fascination with Native American history revealed a profound appreciation for roots and culture, a passion that resonated with those who shared her respect for enduring legacies. Life with Laurie was never dull; she possessed a rare gift for bringing joy to the room, the unmistakable life of every party. Her laughter was infectious, her energy boundless, making every gathering vibrant and unforgettable. Music was her constant companion, the soundtrack of her soul. Songs by Led Zeppelin, Buddy Guy, and Van Halen echoed her dynamic spirit, each note a reflection of her fierce vitality and love for life.

Survivors include her sons, Robby Andrews, and Adam Andrews (Desiree Flores); brother, Mike Carpenter (Tina); granddaughter, Madison Andrews; nieces, Jessica Whittaker (Kenneth), and Juliann Carpenter; great-nephew, Kolton Whittaker; and great-niece, Kyree Whittaker.
