Obituary

Kevin “Doc” Chalk, 60, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on August 22nd , 2026, surrounded by loving family.

Born on February 11th , 1966, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Gail and Jack Chalk, Kevin’s life was guided by faith and a servant’s heart. Following two years of college at UGA & West Georgia, pursuing English in his mother’s footsteps, he proudly served in the United States Army as a combat medic. After becoming a father, he built a lasting career in information security at several top national banks. Kevin spent the later years of his life aspiring toward his dreams as a professional writer. He leaves behind a collection of self-published works under the pen name H.H. Rist.

Kevin was a humble and loving man who cared deeply for those around him. He was often the one people relied on for help. Kevin was an avid trail runner who spent as much time as he could in the woods immersed in his own thoughts and listening to God. Although he was largely a private person,Kevin was a proud American with a unique style that often shone. He enjoyed all things theatrical and regularly participated in DND and the Renaissance Fair. Kevin was a strict kilt wearer and sported a beard that commanded respect. Above all else, he loved to make people laugh. He never missed an opportunity to crack a joke regardless of the circumstances.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Gail; his step-father, Bobby; his brother, Scott; his sister, Elizabeth; his children, Zoë and Dylan; his son-in-law, Cameron; and his grandson, Calum.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at 10:00 am at SonRise Baptist Church, located at 6 Shenandoah Blvd, Newnan, GA 30265. “Even when I cannot see the path, I trust the one who lights it. What is meant for my soul will never lose its way home.” – Dede Hawkins
