Johnny "Elliott" Helton, 78, of Newnan, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Elliott was born on May 22, 1947, in Newnan, to the late Alma Helton and the late Ezra Helton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, having served 2 tours during the Vietnam War and earned 3 purple hearts, among other commendations and medals. He retired as a field superintendent with Atlanta Commercial Drywall. He was a passionate GA Bulldog fan, a faithful believer in Christ and one of the kindest souls you could meet. He was also preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Carolyn Jiles Helton, and son, Jason Elliott.

Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Kearns (Travis); son, Ricky Lee Watson (Michelle); grandchildren, Jamon Nickolas Helton, Nickolas Blake Bowden, Katherine Ann Shubert, Joseph Patrick Helton, Megan Elizabeth Helton, Madeline Kate Helton and Gracie Alanah Mills; sister, Martha Ann Bailey; brother, Joe Helton; and 1st wife, Virginia Cooper.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 p.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Hillcrest Chapel. A procession and graveside service will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military honors and Pastor T. J. Boyd officiating.
