John Gary
Arrington
March 1, 1954 – January 19, 2024
John Gary Arrington, 69, of Sharpsburg, died Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence.
Born March 1, 1954, in Newnan, he was a son of the late William Harris Arrington, and the late Felma Eva Stitcher Arrington. A man of faith, John was a devoted member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. His commitment to his church community was evident in his participation and the joy he found in fellowship with others. John dedicated many years of service to Orr's Trucking, where his hard work, reliability, and camaraderie with his colleagues were greatly valued. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR, relishing the excitement of the race and the thrill of the game. Many a weekend was spent cheering from the stands at Senoia Raceway, where the roar of the engines was music to his ears. John's love for Elvis Presley's music was well-known; he could often be found tapping his foot to the King's timeless tunes. An angler at heart, John enjoyed the tranquility of fishing, embracing the patience and anticipation that came with the sport. The spectacle of fireworks never ceased to amaze him, and he looked forward to these displays with the wonder of a child. Survivors include his wife, Alice Arrington; daughters, Leona Thelma Chacon (Andrew), and Courtney Leigh Arrington; brothers, Ronnie Arrington, and Donnie Arrington; grandchildren, Katelyn Arrington, Andy Chacon, Derrick Chacon, Skylar Arrington, and Ella Arrington; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor David Arrington officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
