Jett Miller Smith, Sr., 85, of Newnan, passed away, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born December 7, 1940, in Newnan, to the late Bud Beery Smith and the late Ollie Mae Landers Smith. He retired from Bonnell Aluminum as a supervisor. After retirement, he created a hobby that he loved making window screens. That hobby would soon turn into a business named The Screen Shoppe. He was a member of the East Newnan Baptist Church, where he proudly sang in the choir, served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and drove the church bus for many years. He was also very active in the church softball league when he was a younger man.
Throughout his eighty-five years, Jett exemplified dedication to family, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast presence in his community. His journey began and concluded in the same cherished town, illustrating his devotion to the place and people he called home.
Jett’s legacy is rooted in the countless lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and generosity. He was known for his gentle demeanor and thoughtful words, always ready with encouragement and support. Friends and loved ones admired his sense of responsibility and his earnest, kind spirit.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary “Lynda” Smith; daughter, Lynn Bradberry (Kenny); son, Jett Smith, Jr. (Tina); grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Jadie Brown (Jay), Kyndall Copeland (Kip), Joshua Bradberry, Christina Cole (Paul), and Anton Bradberry; great grandchildren, Emmalaina Rose Smith, Lacie Jean Brown, Jonathon Kirkland, Jeralyn Bradberry, and Jaxton Bradberry; and sister, Sandra Brown
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at East Newnan Baptist Church with Reverend Frank Powers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation are made to Eat Newnan Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Smith.
The family would like to thank the staff of Affinis Hospice for the compassion and care given to Mr. Smith during his time with them.
