James Cecil Bates, 64, of Newnan, passed away, Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence.

Born August 30, 1955 in College Park, to the late Cecil Bates and the late Ruby King Bates. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Freda Williams and Jean Chase; and brother, Jerry Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Julie Bates; daughters, Brandi Nicole Bates, Laura Elizabeth Bates (Chandler Bogolin) and Emily Anne Findley (Thaddeus Finley II); son, Joshua Christopher Bates; grandchildren, Chloe Finley, David Anthony Smith and Brianna Nichole Hayes-Carson; great-grandchildren, Paul Eugene Hayes and Aleeya Nikole Smith; sisters, Geraldine Lipscomb, Linda Johnson and Edyth Little (Sam); and loyal companion, Worf Bates.
