Gloria Maxine Smith, 87, of Newnan, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Brookhaven Senior Living in Newnan.

Born November 10, 1938, in Savannah, to the late Alton Eugene Smith and the late Minnie Lou Griffin Polk. Gloria was a caring nurse at Newnan Hospital for many years. She was a faithful military wife who traveled the world with her family. As well as a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness’. Above all she was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by those who loved her. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Charles Smith; stepfather, Merrill Polk; and brothers, Billy Eugene Smith and James Ronald Smith.

Survivors include her daughters; Kathy Rooker (Larry), Sharon S. Mitchell Morris (Rick) and Susan M. Smith; grandchildren, Larry Michael Rooker, Shalan Sambucci (Andrew) and Brandy Hooten; great grandchildren, Rayann Eskew, Kaleb Stewart, Josiah Stewart, Micah Sambucci and Esabella Rooker; sisters, Carolyn Sloop and Wanda Boss; brother, Larry Wayne Smith (Lisa Beth); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
