Mrs. Felicita "Chila" Ortiz, 80, of Newnan, died Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Born January 10, 1945, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jose Ruiz and the late Julia Rivera Ruiz. Mrs. Ortiz was the proud owner and operator of her own daycare facility until she retired, dedicating much of her life to nurturing and caring for children. She was deeply devoted to her husband and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her love for cooking brought family and friends together around the table, creating lasting memories through shared meals. Known for her resilience and feisty personality, Mrs. Ortiz was both strong-willed and compassionate, radiating warmth and kindness to all who knew her. Her absence will be profoundly felt by everyone who was fortunate enough to have been part of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Victor M. Ortiz, Sr.; son, Victor M. Ortiz, Jr.; daughters, Marilyn Hernandez (Jorge), and Maribel VanValin (Wayne); sister, Maria Ruiz; grandchildren, Brittany Dennis, Brandon VanValin, Brian VanValin, Kameron Chaudry, Tyler Ortiz, Travis Ortiz, and Tatum Ortiz; and one great-grandchild, Neela Grace Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
