Edith ‘Jean’ Sheffield (Thrower), lovingly known as Grandma and Grammy Jean, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026.
She was born on November 7, 1939, to her late parents Tommy Thrower and Flora Black. Jean enjoyed playing poker, camping, bass fishing, boat rides, shopping, and most importantly spending time with family she loved so dearly. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every moment with her family. She especially loved spending time together, sharing stories, laughing, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Jean also proudly owned and operated Ollie’s Pub in Newnan Georgia, until selling the business in 2005, where she worked hard, built lifelong friendships, and took great pride in her work. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives through the memories she created and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. She was proceeded in death by her Parents, Tommy Thrower, and Flora Black; her daughter, Ruthie Flinner; Her son, Dewayne Cumpston; and her grandsons Richard and Robert Flinner.
Jean is survived by her son, Eddie Sheffield, and wife Robin Sheffield; her daughter, Cindy Floyd; her son in law, Rick Flinner; her grandchildren, Jessica Hamby, Jt Floyd, and Raye Bishop; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Kimi, Jackson, Lily, and Cash.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1660 Highway 34 West Newnan Georgia 30263. Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate Jean’s life and share the memories she leaves behind. In honor of Jean’s love for family gatherings, we kindly ask that everyone bring a favorite side dish to share.
