Obituary

Douglas "Doug" Junior Knott, 67, of Sharpsburg, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and family, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Doug was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church and was retired from The Georgia Baptist Children's Home. He enjoyed his years as a youth pastor, and coaching youth softball and baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. P. Knott and Catherine Calhoun Knott.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris Faye Knott; his children, Wendy Alvonellos (Spyros), James Story (Kori), Nikki Knott, and Renee Nelms (Mike); grandchildren. Jessica Musson (Kevin), Ashley Howe (Jason), Shelbi Barnett (Nick), Jake Story, McKenna Nelms, Sadie Story, and Beau Story; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Farron Payton, Pastor Joe Payton, and Pastor Brady West officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
