Mrs. Doris "Merlene" Smith, 94, of Newnan, passed away, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at her residence.

Born October 24, 1927, in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late Fannie Mae Stephens and the late Henry Stephens. Mrs. Smith attended Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church. She was an artist and ran a craft store in Newnan on Hwy 154 for many years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Smith; daughter, Wilma Smith; sister, Joyce Cooper; and brothers, Hertis Stephens and Quillian Stephens.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Orleck (Richard) and Deberah Williams (Jerry); grandchildren, Jeremy Williams (Holly), Amelia Cronic (Drew) and Monica Watkins (Chad); and great grandchildren, Noah Cronic, Eli Cronic, Isaiah Cronic, Ian Watkins, Addison Watkins and Riley Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
