Doris Azilee Rchards, 91, of Senoia, widow of the late Bobby Ronald Richards, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Born June 11, 1935, in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Lucius Elgett Parson and the late Lonie Leoris Wilkins Parson. Doris lived a life woven with warmth and devotion, her gentle nature evident in every role she embraced. Her home was always a place of comfort, and her kitchen a source of countless memories. Doris loved to cook, and her talents in the kitchen became the heart of family gatherings, filling her home with the aroma of home-cooked meals and the sounds of laughter. One of Doris’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. She found light and purpose in nurturing each of them, showering them with the kind of love that lingers long after visits end. With a needle and thread in hand, Doris found solace and satisfaction in sewing, a craft that allowed her to create not only clothing and comfort but also to stitch together stories and memories that her loved ones will treasure for years to come. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas E. Parson.
Survivors include her daughter, Delilah Banks (Steven); son, Dana Elgett Richards (Terra); grandchildren, Lucius Banks (Stephanie), Nathaniel Richards (Kim), LeAnn Richards, and Jordan Richards; and great-grandchildren, Austin Richards, Waylon Banks, Benjamin Banks, and Skyler Singleton.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Line Creek Baptist Church with Dr. David Hammonds officiating, Mrs. Richards will lie in state at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel.
