Donald Keith
Griffith
April 28, 1931 – December 8, 2023
Donald Keith Griffith, 92, of Newnan, died Friday, December 8, 2023, at Magnolia Senior Living in Sharpsburg, Georgia.
Born April 28, 1931, in Cushing, Iowa, he was a son of the late William Orland Griffith and the late Dorothy Cobb Griffith. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Donald's entrepreneurial spirit led him to a successful career as the owner and operator of Griffith Grading Company. Donald was an active member of the First Christian Church of Tyrone, where he found great joy in fellowship and service. An adventurous man at heart, Donald had a profound love for aviation. Owning his own helicopter and several airplanes, he found freedom among the clouds, sharing his passion with all who knew him. Donald's interests were as vast as the horizons he explored from above. He had a particular fondness for vintage and antique tractors, dedicating countless hours tinkering on and restoring these pieces of history. In his younger years, Donald embraced the thrill of adventure through big game hunts. These expeditions were not just about the hunt but about immersing himself in the great outdoors, respecting nature's grandeur, and cherishing the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Hartman. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Betty Lou Griffith; daughter, Cindy Sims; stepsons, Michael Thomas (Jennifer), and Jim Thomas (Lynn); sister, Mary Ann Gray; stepdaughter, Terri May (Chris); brothers, Jay Griffith (Darlene), Bill Griffith )Jo Lynn), and Paul Griffith (Pat); 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at First Christian Church Tyrone with Minister Gary Boyd and Minister Dan Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church, one hour prior to the service.
