Mr. Dewayne "Red" Gipson, 59, of Franklin, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his residence.

Born October 27, 1965, in Atlanta, he was a son of the late James Gipson, Jr., and the late Barbara McDaniel Gipson. Red was a real "firecracker" who was down to earth and kind-hearted. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He liked to fish and enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers. He also loved archery and listening to rock and roll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne Carter Gipson, Jr., a sister, Patricia Purkey, and a brother, Eddie Gipson.

Survivors include his children, James H. Gipson (Leslie), Sara Gipson, Thomas Gipson, and Desire Jones (Lex); his girlfriend, Janet Bridges; grandchildren, Hunter, Wyatt, Rylee, Asa, Abby, Layne, Scarlett, Bubba, and Maple; brothers, James Q. Gipson, and Danny Gipson (Denise); sister-in-law, Sandra Gipson; and several nieces & nephews.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
