Obituary

Debra Hanson Ray, 68, of Grantville, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, in Seneca, South Carolina.

Born September 7, 1955, in Newnan, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Edmund Hanson, and the late Jennie B. Masdon Hanson. Debra's life was a testament to her unwavering faith as a born-again Christian. Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and her interactions with others. Debra found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid traveler, always eager to explore new destinations and cultures. Her love for trying new restaurants was matched only by her enthusiasm for going on cruises, where she relished the beauty of the open sea and the camaraderie of fellow travelers. Debra's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. She was a long-standing employee with Westaff, where her colleagues remember her as someone who brought light and positivity to the workplace every day. Animals held a special place in Debra's heart, especially her two beloved dogs, Starry and Bentley. They were not just pets but cherished members of her family, and she showered them with the same love and affection she gave to all.

Survivors include her loving children, Chad Bishop (Daphne) of LaGrange, Kevin Bishop (Tayme), also of LaGrange, Kelley Miller (Billy) of Grantville; sister, Donna Sligh (Terry); grandchildren, Jordan Bishop, Carl Miller, Hunter Miller, Mason Miller, Blake Bishop, Chloe Bishop, Kaden Bishop, Elijah Alberti, Hannah Alberti, Emerson Alberti, and Ada Alberti; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Hosmer officiating.
