Obituary

David Louis Roberts, 71, of Newnan, GA died at Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, GA of complications related to COPD and emphysema on Thursday, July 18th, 2024.

He was born on February 13th, 1953, in Savannah, GA but came to Newnan, GA as a small child and never left, spending his whole life as a proud citizen of Coweta County and a big-time supporter of his alma mater's football team- The Newnan Cougars. His family and close friends new him as a rabid, die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan as well as a fountain of statistical knowledge related to sports, especially basketball. His favorite phrase was unquestionably, "Go Dawgs!".

Everyone who knew David will remember his quick wit and goofy chuckle. However, he was most well known as an incredibly gifted guitar player. In his youth, he played music with a group of friends that included Alan Jackson and he also tutored Doug Stone (Doug Brooks of Newnan) on the guitar. Throughout his life he was a member of several popular local bands and his presence in a band would draw fans from hours away to see him play in a bar, a show, or an event.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife (Anna Roberts) and his 3 sons from previous marriages (Jason, Matthew, and Benjamin Roberts), his 2 grandchildren (Kylie and Trace Roberts), his beloved dog (Otis), as well as his loyal & loving cat (Sammy).

The family has already held a small private service and wishes to express their gratitude to all of the friends and family who have given their condolences.
