Franklin
David Allen Hand, 71, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
Born June 12, 1955, in Atlanta, to the late Grady Hand and the late Louise Abercrombie Chandler. David could be described as a hard-working family man. He made a living as a mechanic for Fulton County Public Works before having to medically retire. He was a talented and knowledgeable mechanic. He worked passionately on hot rods for most of his life. When he was no longer physically able, he began to enjoy building model cars. He also enjoyed dirt track racing. Above all he adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He would do anything to make sure they were taken care of. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Debra June Hand; sister, Betty Chandler; and stepfather, Neal Chandler.
Survivors include his daughters, Carin Jade Hand, Debra Allene Tanner, and Amanda Deane Mitchell (Allen); grandchildren, Jadon, Destiny, Jeremiah, Dixie, Logan, Aryanna, Matthew, Brehanna, and Annabelle; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Smith (V. B.), Claudia Ronshausen (Brent), Bobbie Jo Turner, Cleo Turner (Steve), Sheila Mask, and Barbara Wright; uncle, Bobby Tarpley (Jo Anne); brothers-in-law, John Hunsinger and Richard Todrowski; and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of David’s life will be announced later.
