On June 15, 2026, Carolyn Bowman Pope passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior.
A faithful Christian, Carolyn lived her life as a shining example of God’s love, grace, and kindness. Her unwavering faith guided every aspect of her life, and she found great joy in serving others as a devoted Sunday School teacher and longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Family was always Carolyn’s greatest blessing and highest priority. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, traveling together, or enjoying one of her many cruises, Carolyn treasured making memories with those she loved most. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her grandbabies and watching her family grow. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will continue to live on for generations. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bennie Pope; her parents, Ben and Lilly Bowman; her brothers, Buddy Bowman, and Elton Bowman; and her brother-in-law, Horace Palmer.
She is survived by her children, Larry Pope (Ana), Brenda Lowe (JR), and Tommy Pope (Tracy). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Holli Phillips (Tracy), Matt Pope (Amanda), Chris Lowe (Lendy), Jason Lowe (Melissa), Nicki Garner-Hayles (Janet), Ginger Fraley (Rogers), Liana Colvin (Ethan), Ben Pope (Jordan), and Allison Hughes (Chris). Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren, Chase Cook, Dalton Phillips, Tucker Pope, Avery Phillips, Leigha Lowe, Madison Lowe, Gracie Lowe, Abigail Lowe, Nash Lowe, Sadie Lowe, Ansley Fraley, Jameson Garner-Hayles, Pierce Fraley, Beau Pope, Faith Lowe, Emmy Pope, Weston Pope, Watson Garner-Hayles, Truett Colvin, and Tilden Colvin. Carolyn is also survived by her brother, Raymond Bowman (Sandra); her sisters, Ellen Hawkins (Mike), and Shirley Palmer; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Carolyn’s life was a beautiful testimony of faith, compassion, and unconditional love. She loved the Lord deeply and faithfully served Him throughout her life. While her family grieves her absence, they find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and is resting in the eternal peace of Heaven. Her memory, her faith, and the love she poured into her family will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Mike Sprayberry and Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating.
