Carolyn Jean Bavaro, 83, of Newnan, widow of the late Louis T. Bavaro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Grace Senior Living.
Born October 10, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Benedict Macioce and the late Ruth Herr Macioce. Carolyn was a woman whose daily life was threaded with the simple pleasures that brought her immeasurable joy. She cherished spirited excursions of shopping, the thrill of discovery, the touch of fabric, the sparkle of a new find, a ritual that allowed her to express her vivacious spirit and zest for life. Alongside this, she loved the vibrant, flowing currents of conversation with her family and friends, forging bonds of laughter and shared secrets that enriched her world and theirs. More precious than any outing or chatter was the time spent with her grandchildren. In their gleaming eyes, she found a reservoir of love and purpose. Her devotion extended also to Wally, her faithful dog, whose companionship was a source of comfort and joy through many seasons of her life. From the bustling streets of Brooklyn where she first came into the world, to the peaceful halls of Grace Senior Living where her journey ended, Carolyn carried with her a spirit that touched all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Thomas B. Bavaro (Janet), and Christine Bonanno (Joseph); grandchildren, Rebecca Bonanno, James Bonanno, Jennifer Furfaro, and James Furfaro (Katya); brothers, Richard Macioce (Mary), and Michael Macioce (Donna), and her sister-in-law, Bernadette Bavaro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
