Betty Reddish Smiley, 82, widow of the late Charles Jefferson "C. J." Smiley, died peacefully Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at her daughter's home in Newnan.
Born April 19, 1939, in Jesup, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late William Sidney Reddish, and the late Q. D. Lewis Reddish. Mrs. Smiley was a member of Gum Branch Church in Hinesville. A native of Wayne County, she and her family lived in the Atlanta Metro Area during her 32-year career with GDOT, then settled into retirement in Ludowici with her husband, C.J. Smiley, affectionately known as "Grammy". She was happiest surrounded by family, generous with her smile, compliments, and resources. Best of all, she loved to shop. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Chuck (Shelly) Smiley of Senoia; daughter, Kim (Danny) Cameron of Newnan; grandchildren, Kallie, Kyle, Cameron (Mattie) and Cassie; great grandchildren, Kaelyn, KylaRae, Kora, and Easton; several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27th, 2022, at Gum Branch Baptist Church in Hinesville with Dan Hoffman and Pastor Gabe Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the Gum Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gum Branch Baptist Church, 8590 Highway 196 West, Hinesville, GA, 31313, in memory of Mrs. Smiley.
