Mrs. Betty Jane Smith, 93, of Forsyth, formerly of Newnan, widow of the late Roy Alexander Smith, died Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her residence.
Born May 1, 1932, in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late George Griggs and the late Jewel Strickland Griggs. Betty had been a member of Victory Tabernacle in Newnan and attended New Beginning Pentecostal Church in Forsyth. She had a passion for sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and care. Betty found great joy in gardening, tending to her beloved flowers, and took pride in nurturing her plants. She cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making lasting memories together. Known for her warm hospitality, Betty loved cooking and hosting meals, bringing family and friends together around the table. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David A. Smith, and sisters, Mattie Kate Bishop, Corrie Williamson, Ruth Ford, and Mary Edwards.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy K. Young; son, Kenneth S. Smith (Peggy); 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in Pitts Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
