Obituary

Barbara Louise Watts Norton, age 90, of Newnan, Georgia, died peacefully on February 8, 2024, at her home in Newnan.

Barbara was beloved by all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Barbara was born in Newnan on May 5, 1933, the only child of the late Alton Watts and Louise Meadows Watts. She met and fell in love with Thomas Edward Norton, and they were married from July 2, 1949 until his passing in 2008. Together, they raised two sons, Eddie and Tommy Norton. Barbara led a full life, she loved reading, listening to gospel music, and writing in her journals, but she loved and enjoyed her family most of all.

In addition to her beloved husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Norton, her grandson Michael Norton, and daughter-in-law Myra Norton. She is survived by her son, Tommy (Jana), grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley) Norton, Jonathan Norton, Matthew Norton, Brittany Norton, Lindsay (Shane) Loftin, and Spencer Jackson; five great granddaughters, Braelynn, Kathryn, and Lainey Norton, Sian and Mia Loftin, and one great-great grandson, Kolton.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 with Reverend Ken Norton officiating at Hillcrest Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the funeral home on Friday afternoon.
