Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann Railey, 87, of Sharpsburg, widow of the late Lawrence Leroy Railey, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her residence.

Born December 8, 1934, in LaGrange, she was a daughter of the late Roosevelt "Rube" Smith and his wife Eunice C. "Big Momma" Smith, and the late Esther Keeble Smith. Mrs. Railey was of the Baptist Faith, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan, and coached softball for her daughters' team.  Mrs. Railey loved working in the yard and having a flower garden. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Railey; sisters, Wayner, Mary, and Geraldine; and brothers, Joe, and Donnie.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Railey (Judi) and Danny Railey (Michelle); daughter, Yvonne Carter; sister, Gwinell Brown; grandchildren, Tina Long, Lee Carter, Dustin Railey, and Chris Railey; great-grandchildren, Jordan Long, Chase Long, Nora Carter, Aubrey Railey, Parker Railey, Logan Railey, and Lorelai Railey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Joel Smelley officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
