Mrs. Annie Ruth Burgess 90, of Newnan, GA died Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1931 in Tampa, FL. She was the daughter of Rev. Raliegh T. Burns and Annie Laura Burns. Annie was one of three children, and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Idalee MeHaffey and Frances James.

Annie Ruth Burns was a loving wife for 64 years to her late husband, Herbert L. Burgess. Together they have two children, Ruth McMullen and Robert Burgess.

Mrs. Anne loved The Lord and served Him faithfully in all she did throughout her life. She was very active in her church, First Baptist Newnan, and all through life where she attended many churches being a military wife. She played piano, organ, and sang in the choir. She also served as a Gideon alongside of her husband.

Annie Ruth Burgess is survived by her daughter, Ruth McMullen, son Robert L. Burgess and his wife Joy. Grand-daughters, Nicole Burgess, Jacque Spillson, and Heather Burgess. Great-grandsons, Jonathon Elsey and Christopher Elsey. Step grand-children Joshua Funderburk, Joseph Funderburk, Kendra Paul, and step-great grandchildren, Madalene Funderburk, Bryce Funderburk, Brantley Funderburk, McKinley Funderburk, Peyton Paul and Elijah Paul.

In celebration of her life please join the family Monday, March 15, 2021 for the Celebration Service. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the celebration. Location will be First Baptist Newnan at 12:00 p.m. to be officiated by Rev. Mike Emiott. Burial to follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA. Due to COVID, face masks will be required and social distancing inside sanctuary.
