Alma Bishop
Maimone
April 23, 1944 — June 15, 2026
Sharpsburg
Alma Bishop Maimone, 82, of Sharpsburg, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at her residence.
Born on April 23, 1944, in Newnan, she was a daughter of the late Albert Roy Bishop and the late Margaret Calhoun Bishop. A lifelong seamstress, she lent her skill and care to Southern Mills, where she committed herself to her craft with unwavering dedication until her well-earned retirement. A faithful member of Open Door Baptist Church, Alma found her spiritual home among friends who admired her gentle spirit and generous heart. The warmth of family was Alma’s sanctuary; she cherished every moment spent in their company and found delight in simple pleasures like the soothing lull of ocean waves at the beach. Christmas was a magical season for Alma, her eyes sparkled brighter than holiday lights, and her laughter filled the room, carried by memories of cherished traditions. One tradition stood unbroken: every Black Friday, without fail, Alma set out hand-in-hand with her daughter, embarking on a day of shopping adventures that deepened their bond and created countless joyful memories. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Cole Hilliard, Justin Bishop, and Jason Bishop; sister, Inez Day, and brothers, Luke Bishop, Lawrence Bishop, Hayward Bishop, Howard Bishop, Horace Bishop, Bobby Bishop, and Billy Bishop.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Pece (Don); sons, Allen Bishop (Kristi), Bruce Hilliard (Tonia), and Brandon Ruppe; brothers, Landis Bishop, Roy Bishop, and Robbie Bishop; sister, Edna Barge; brother, Jeff Calhoun (Karen); grandchildren, Ashley Morgan, Matthew Bishop (Jessie), Johnathan Bishop (Ashley), James O'Neal (Katie), Ryan O'Neal, Chris Goodspeed (Courtney), and Lily McConnell; 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel, with Pastor Billy Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Hillcrest Chapel.
