Steve L. Sands

Steve L Sands, of Newnan, formerly of Maryville, TN, graduated to his heavenly home on January 7, 2020. He will celebrate his 63rd birthday on Saturday, January 11 with His Savior, after a courageous battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Steve was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.  His home church was Grace Covenant Worship Center in Hogansville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sands and Eureth Miller; brothers, Wendell and Clifford Sands; and his mother-in-law, Bernice Weaver.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Renée Lindsey Sands; his beloved son he raised from 1 year old, Lee Butcher (Jennifer); and the apple of his eye and only daughter, Bridgette Triplicata (Joseph); and faithful companion, his Dachshund, Duchess aka Duchee Lee. Beloved grandchildren include Traci Caughron, Jeanna Triplicata, Carson Butcher, Hayden Butcher, Giovanni Triplicata and Julia Triplicata and great-granddaughter Blair Humphrey.  Other survivors include his siblings, Sue Vaughn, Carolyn Swanson, Bill Sands, Brickie Sands, Denise Sands, Sandra Cook, and Gay West; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Much heartfelt thanks to the team at Southern Grace Hospice for leading us through the end of this difficult journey. Special thanks to Andi, Amy, an awesome nursing staff, Dee, and Chaplain Jim for their compassion, superb care and outstanding support.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Hillcrest Chapel with a Freedom Celebration Service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. Graveside Committal Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Covenant Worship Center, 1402 Bass Cross Road, Hogansville GA 30230 or Southern Grace Hospice Foundation, 80 Candler Road, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Steve.
