Mr. Gary Lance Jostandt, 73, of Newnan, died Monday, October 28 while vacationing in Banff, Canada.
Born July 7, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas, he was a son of the late Joseph Jostandt and the late Pauline Doyle Jostandt. Mr. Jostandt was a decorated combat “dust-off” medic, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army 498th Medical Evac Company. As a tribute to his service to our Country, a fellow Vietnam Combat Air Medic, David Vining, flew to Canada to escort Gary’s remains back to Newnan. Gary also served as a volunteer, helping veterans at the VFW. He enjoyed travel, loved animals, and loved his family. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Banning, Helen Banning, and Betty Banning; and his brothers, Neal Banning, Barry Jostandt, Joe Banning, and Tony Jostandt.
Survivors include his daughter, Tabitha Jostandt Culver (Kenneth) of Flowery Branch; Tabitha’s mother, Wendy Jostandt Hall of Ooltewah, TN; grandchild, Lia Culver; brother, Fred Banning; a numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held in Hillcrest Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating.
