Christopher Robert Scheufler

Mr. Christopher Robert Scheufler, 72, of Winder, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his residence.

Chris became a professional musician right out of high school, joining the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as a French Horn player.  He was also a member of the ASO’s Brass Quintet, which took him on international tours.  Carol and Chris met as Juniors in high school, then married while attending Georgia State University.  They were the love of each other’s life -truly soulmates- and have been married for 52 years. Chris was a strong, vital personality who loved life; riding motorcycles, driving and repairing fast cars, and running in 5K fun-runs.  He sang as a tenor soloist at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atlanta, while also singing in other Atlanta-area Lutheran church choirs.  He loved people and could always be counted on for a good punny joke, which he always referred to as “Musician’s Humor”.  Even though he suffered a traumatic head injury in 1982, he accepted his personal losses with inspirational grace; never giving up, willing to accept encouragement and set personal goals.  His wonderful smile always warmed the hearts of all those around him, and together with his ever-positive outlook, helped he and his family through many other health challenges.  He always saw the future as a God-given blessing, living and enjoying every day to the fullest.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol W. Scheufler; son, Robert Warren Scheufler (Mary Jo) of Jefferson; daughter, Christina Scheufler Sharifi (Reza) of Covington; and grandchildren, Jackson Sharifi and Catherine Scheufler.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Hillcrest Chapel with The Reverend Nathan Wheeler officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
